Thunder Take Game
One over Lakers in a Blowout!
SO game one is in the books. And it went to plan, mostly.
Firstly, OKC won 130-112 in a high-octane matchup that show cased some very
good shooting from both sides including The Lakers shooting 52% from beyond the
arc and OKC shooting above 50% from the field and Secondly their bench
outscored the Lakers bench. But it was how they outscored them that wasn’t
quite expected. Nikola Mirotic launched 16 threes and connected on 7 of them to
give him 27 points to go along with 6 rebounds a steal and a block. It was a
truly masterful performance off the bench for the Spaniard.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was brilliantly efficient getting his
25 points off 15 shots with only one turnover. Draymond Green was his crafty
best, putting up 12 14 and 6. Valancuinas and Jokic controlled the boards where
the thunder was plus 16 including plus 7 on the offensive boards. Leading to
plus 6 on the second chance points.
FOR the Lakers, it was a fairly even performance, with 7 players
in double figures but no one scoring more than 17, Wade who was held in check
pretty well. Besides Vucevic they were beaten on the boards and this is
something they will need to correct quickly. Crawford and Ginobli were both
great off the bench and will need to continue that for the remainder of the
series.
OKC hit 9 of their first 13 shots and lead by 5 at the first
break and never really looked back from there. We caught up with GM Ben right
after Game One “Very happy
with the performance. We hustled and were aggressive. The bench really kept the
foot on the accelerator relieving the starting unit. Need the same performance
in Game 2! “
THE Lakers
GM Greeny, could not be contacted after the game, however we will be catching
up with him before Game 3 back in Los Angeles.
GAME 2 will
be on Wednesday (NLL Time), again in OKC where the thunder will be looking to
protect home court and take a 2-0 series lead.
